Schools

High Sports can offer curriculum based activities or an after school club at one our centres

After School Clubs
High Sports can run an after school club specifically for your school. Availability is obviously limited but why not enquire as to whether a slot is available. Each session is one and a half hours long and is supported by High Sports instructors and teaching staff. The clubs can cater for children from different year groups as we will divide the club up by age and ability and assign an instructor to each group. It is the ideal way to learn the basics and to get involved with the inter-schools climbing competitions we run.

Curriculum Based Sessions
As the GCSE PE syllabus extends to include adventurous activities, indoor climbing is becoming a regular feature for many schools.

Climbing provides real value as a way towards getting an all round workout but we have seen particularly good results with those children not drawn to traditional team or competitive sports. Boys and girls partake on an equal footing, although girls often outperform their male counterparts.

Results extend beyond the physical benefits of getting active. Many teachers use climbing as a way of improving behavioural characteristics by increasing self reliance, trust and team work.

High Sports provide a fully supported schools programme including the new NICAS scheme. This national programme provides a consistent syllabus across the country and also enables children to progress with the scheme beyond the level they complete with their school.

For teachers interested in getting involved with the delivery of climbing sessions, High Sports can provide a training programme up to the High Sports Site Specific Award.
