Junior Climbing

Junior Clubs

Pebbles are our youngest climbers, starting at age 4 through to age 7. This is climbing just for fun in a small supervised groups. Each Pebbles session lasts 1 hour and the children will be provided with full body harnesses and helmets. We ask parents to remain in the viewing area for the duration of the session, just in case there are any wobbles!

Junior ROCKCLUB for ages 7 through to 13, is where we start to teach children how to climb and belay each other. For several years now we have operated a log book scheme as part of the Junior Rock Club. This is a progressive learning programme and encourages each Junior Rock Clubber to keep extending their skills by regular review and sign off.

ROCKUP is for our older juniors aged 14 to 16 and while it is still suitable for complete beginners, who will complete our Junior Beginner Course during their first 5 sessions, the club has a more adult theme to it. The instructors are able to push on with the training and, where appropriate, start introducing more advanced climbing and coaching skills. For those interested we will also introduce competition climbing to the sessions.

NOTE: ROCKUP is new for 2010 so start dates may vary as we roll this new scheme out.

To find out when our junior clubs run take a look at the Activity Schedule for your local centre.

Junior ROCKCLUB and ROCKUP run in line with local school terms and typically are booked as 6 or 7 week blocks. A small number of day visit places are also available.

Parents. If you would like to come and watch before joining up, you are very welcome. Also, many of our centres have cafés so you can have a relaxing time while the great adventure unfolds for your children.
