The Everest Challenge at Redhill
What is ‘The Everest Challenge’?
My name is Freddy High; I am 11 years old and have been climbing for two years. When I first started climbing I was afraid of heights, which is sort of ironic given my name. However, I have conquered my fears, thanks to the good people at High Sports in Redhill and climbing is now my favourite sport.
I decided to set myself a challenge for Sport Relief 2012 so during the June half-term holiday (2nd to 10th) I will be climbing the equivalent height of Mt Everest ( 8848m or 1475 times up a 6m wall) in aid of the charity. I will attempt the challenge at the High Sports Centre in Redhill (funnily enough I have no relations with the centre, despite its name).
I am running a blog for me to post my progress and preparation. I will keep you informed of my attempts to teach my parents how to help me and my training regime in the build-up to the big event. Check back for regular updates.
