Centre Manager at Crawley

Centre Manager at Crawley

  • K2 Leisure Centre, West Sussex
  • Full Time
  • Permanent

Full time, permanent position operating on a 2 weekly working pattern.

For the right candidate this will be a permanent position with a schedule mainly spread across afternoons, evenings and alternate weekends averaging 25-30 hours per week.

Our priorities in Crawley, as well as our strong community of regular boulderers and climbers, are our junior programme and developmental sessions for young people: promoting and developing grass roots climbing as the best way to ensure the future of rock climbing. We believe Everyone Can Climb, which makes our sessions as diverse as the people attending them. As well as fast paced, high energy sessions like birthday parties and taster sessions we deliver low ratio private introductions to rock climbing, developmental sessions for young people, pupil referral units and schools as well as sessions for climbers with additional needs (including paraclimbing).

Taking responsibility, among other things, for the day to day running and administration of the centre and ensuring instructors are accurately scheduled, you will work closely with the Business Management Team to continuously improve the performance of the centre. You’ll be expected to get your hands dirty spending large amounts of your time customer facing, with the occasional spot of instructing and coaching. Ideally, you have experience in climbing and the leisure industry as a whole and experience working in a customer facing role is essential.

An understanding of financial targets and company development objectives is key to this role.

Being able to prioritise your workload and be self sufficient is a key aspect to being successful in this position. Effective management of your team and the ability to task and monitor them, as well as identifying training needs is also important.

Success in this role is dependent on becoming a key member of the community of climbers, instructors and families for whom our climbing wall is a big part of life. You’ll need to quickly build strong relationships with existing customers and first time climbers alike to keep our customer’s passion for our climbing wall strong.

Benefits include: free use of the climbing wall and discounts on climbing gear and equipment through our suppliers.

For more information or to apply, please send a covering letter explaining why you are a suitable candidate for the role along with a current CV

Salary dependent on experience.

28 days holiday including Bank holidays (pro rata)
